The traditional Cantate Domino text proclaims:

Sing to the Lord a new song,

Sing and give praise to his name:

For he has done marvelous deeds.

Lawlor’s adaptation echoes this structure, replacing divine praise with reverence for the natural world:

Sing to the hills a new song,

Sing and bless the trees and the Earth,

For she is full of wonder!

Sing to the moon a new song,

Sing and bless the heavens and the stars,

For they are full of wonder!

Alleluia!
